We ended up only getting 3.6 Tons from the block 🙁 …. While that’s a little sad for the growers it probably benefits us in the quality of the grape in this case, smaller berries = more intense flavors.. FWIW, this evening I stayed in Sutter Creek and enjoyed their Blues and Brews fest, so the next video you see I’ll be slightly hungover.. With that said I recommend anyone to go to Gold Country for that festival, it was like a mini Mardi Gras.

We harvested on the 25th as you’ll find out soon with a video update but here’s a quick hit from a week ago about our newest vineyard, “Hunter’s Oak.”

Last Wednesday was a good day, I checked out both our Amador vineyards and Lodi locations.. Coming soon I’ll get you some shots from our future Grenache vineyard but for today here’s a quick check up on the “Vista Luna” and our Petite Sirah. [pb_vidembed title=”Vista Luna” caption=”” url=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHFhhTjndTg” type=”yt” w=”480″ h=”385″]

You’re going to want some of this..

We’re very excited to present our 2010 Zinfandel from this bottling as well as the release of our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc.  Both single vineyard, single varietal, and in very limited quantities but unlimited quality (see what I did there). Heading up to Redwood Valley and Lake Counties tomorrow…. The vineyards are really starting to come around and we’re getting an idea of what this vintage is going to look like.  I’m very excited and have got some good ideas to include everyone once we’ve nailed down all of our potential single vineyards sites, both new, and old.  So send me more emails, questions via twitter and we’ll get things moving.

Cheers,

Yeast Inoculation, and the Giants!!!

Here’s a quick video taken last week during the Giants Victory parade…  Just to give everyone a quick update on the progress on all of our wines the Quartz Block Zinfandel, and Vista Luna Petite Sirah are both down to barrel.  Still in tank is our Russian River Sauvignon Blanc (probably the longest fermentation ever!! going to be awesome!) and our Haystack Peak Cabernet Sauvignon Read More

Delestage!!! Day-Luh-Stahjje

So, back at the major part of ferment and this video gives us a glimpse of a wine process called delestage.  The video explains it all but what I will let you know is that I’ll do this process numerous times during the fermentation process and what it does is really assists in the softening of harsher tannins, as well as helps me control my fermentation temperature.   Read More
