We’re bottling tomorrow people, just thought I’d let you all know.
I can’t believe it’s been since January that I posted a blog entry, I promise, the coming months you’ll be seeing a lot more content because there is a lot going on.. A few things to keep an eye on:
1. Wine Club – Everyone has one, we will too… With that said we will be keeping it very simple.
2. Pre-Harvest Party/Sneak Peek wine release… We’re almost sold out of our current releases, we’ve bottled the 2010 SB and will be bottling the other wines in the very near future so it’s time we throw a big party, drink a ton of wine, eat an ungodly amount of food and have some fun.. Hopefully sell a few cases as well.
3. Our Newsletter – I know that many of you out there aren’t always on the internet like I am, so we’re going to try to come out with a physical, good ole’ fashioned Newsletter that can keep our friends in touch with our coming events/wines/shenanigans.
I know, this was a really brief update but I promise a more in depth one will be coming soon.

Still in tank is our Russian River Sauvignon Blanc (probably the longest fermentation ever!! going to be awesome!) and our Haystack Peak Cabernet Sauvignon Read More

So, back at the major part of ferment and this video gives us a glimpse of a wine process called delestage. The video explains it all but what I will let you know is that I’ll do this process numerous times during the fermentation process and what it does is really assists in the softening of harsher tannins, as well as helps me control my fermentation temperature. Last time we visited the Quartz Block Zinfandel it was at the peak of ferment, we were making additions to build up its nutrients, punch it down, and aerating the tank. In this video you get to see the process of how we get the wine from the tank to barrel and then an inside look, Read More
Harvesting the Vista Luna Vineyard
All right, I’ve kept everyone in suspense long enough. Easily my favorite wine/varietal to make is Petite Sirah. Since 2006 I’ve been working with this varietal each year and I’ll be honest, I’m a bit of a slut for it. There, I said it. I love the aromatics (it can be fruit driven or it can be rustic with earth and tobacco), I love the mouth feel (huge tannins but when made right they’re not drying but all encompassing), and the color, ohhh I’m such a whore when it comes to the color of Petite Sirah.
